45 Minute Inquiry.

Indoor curling is an ice game it is played on ice it can be played indoor and outside, Winter is best for it to be played because you can play outside. There are heaps or rinks around for indoor curling to be played it is mostly played in ice skating rinks.

It is played on a 45.73m long board 5 meters wide, You have hack which is a stick with a circular object on the bottom to push the stone down to the end. The board reminds me of a dart board like white blue and read and the further you get it in were hitting is the more points you will get such as on a dart board its were the darts get placed. Each team has four players in it and a game has ten ends and each end is fiftieth  - ten  minutes so if we have ten games thats two hours and thirty minute games. Each team plays on a different court. There is a hog line which is were the stone passes to retrieve points.

New Zealand has a team that competed in the asian championships in 2011, when researching indoor curling it comes up with a lot of asian things. My assumption is that it is an asian sport. A lot of people mistake it for shuffle board.

The well known thing for indoor curling is to be nice and respect your players because in a way it is a delicate but difficult sport.

Mrs Mills's jaw gaped open and her eyes rolled skyward.. Tornado was coming our way, I pushed Jessica infront of me thinking she would go up he tornado and save us all turns out she farted half way through and created nine tornados, then Jessica burped and created a earthquake. We all went running to try & protect ourselves. We all ducted for cover, later on that afternoon the school was a mess kids left, teachers left my class left.. Guess no school for the rest of my life.

 This term we been having our life education sessions. One of the topics we are learning about it drugs. Everyone in our class has made a presentation about one individual drug, so that we can extend our knowledge. One change is to put in a pool, having a pool would be wicked. Especially for summer, swimming comps and maybe the school swim team. I understand it may cost a lot but not using it throughout winter would be okay. You could put it behind the playground, making that level of ground equal and then putting in a pool, we could fundraise.

I found out my two friends smoke I'm only 13 I don't know what to do im really confused. Please help.
Sit down with your two Friends just you guys in interruptions, I want you to start telling them how much they mean to you tell them they are important and every part of there bone in there body is important to you but most importantly you lungs. I hate seeing you chuck your life away at such a young age I mean I want you to live your life for the longest you can, you know smoking kills right? Now at this point your friends will be really annoyed and I understand they would I mean you are pretty much making them feel like bad people, your gonna need to comfort them they will probably say stuff like

Don't listen to them they are just saying stuff so they look like the stronger person but for you to confront them and talk to them shows you have more balls then anyone else because you have the power to make a change, now your going to need to lighten up the convo talk about your memories the laughs and smiles you shared and the times you were all different maybe when you were little. Make them laugh smile and then tell them this 'see i want these times back I don't like you getting involved with bad things I want the real you the one thats deep down inside you' So please stop smoking I mean you have so much in life ahead of you ease off it if it is a big part of your life and stop for my sake your families sake and your friends, So next time that someone gets you to smoke turn it down and say no delay your desssion.

Two weeks before the last school holidays my Mum, dad, my brother and I & his girlfriend set of to america for 4 weeks for the family wedding. The wedding was held in los angeles at the Hilton hotel. We had drinks and nibbles the day before were I caught up with a lot of people that Night was awesome, near the hotel was Universal & me and the cousins went there for a night show then walked to the Sheraton pool and went swimming! On the day of the wedding it was held at this little church it was so perfect it was such a long wedding because of her religion. Once we went back to the hotel at 6 we had the reception the reception was raging! It was so cool they had awesome music amazing talkers and divine food. It went from 6pm at 2am! It was so fun catching up with the family and having laughs must of been the best night of my life. In the morning the new weds went on there honeymoon to  tahiti and the rest of us went on the family honeymoon to LAS VAGES!

There are so many things that 'parentally' brings bad luck such as braking a window, also if 13 people sit at a table on Friday the 13th one person on that table will die by the end of the year. Barbie Princess Charm School is a sequel to many other movies, Its stars a barbie in each movie she has long blonde hair Elise Ellen is the voice of barbie.

Barbie is an ordinary girl, were her younger sister and mum struggle.. her sisters dream is to go to princess charm school she's to young so when they do a scholarship draw she puts barbies name in and to there surprise she was chosen and sent on her way to the school she can't succeed what most can do there but one thing is she has the power to achieve it.

I loved this movie it's one of my favorite movies ever, its got such a good hock to it and really entertaining. I even enjoy it although I'm 13 and i bet you will to if your a girl for sure.

If your a cartoon fake mood Barbie Princess Charm School is the one for you although you can chose form many other barbie movies. It's great for younger primary kids but I still enjoy it.

Over the last two days the girls' have been at self defense, meanwhile the boys were making movies. One of the teams who had Kodi, Matt, Connor&Zane. They were using the prop (a cookie pad) as they chucked it down the hill by mistake, they thought not telling Miss Campbell.

Over the last day, and this morning block until 11:30 we have been doing self defense. We learnt how to protect ourselves, show the intruder that we are stronger then them. Throughout yesterday we read stories, talked about stories and discussed our own stories. We also learnt venerable areas, areas that will hurt the attacker, trigger points. We learnt kicks and movements with our legs such as the shin scrape, ballerina kick, and the knee kick and normal kicks. We also Learnt punches the harmer one hitting your fist straight on to the attackers noes and pulling away fast, we also learnt the normal punch twisting out arm around and out to attacker. These skills were practiced on boxing equipment so we could see the pain and practice on something, like she said we are not aloud to practice on boys!

 She also taught us to tell a safe adult speak up and not be afraid to talk about it, I came to think that if something like that ever happend to me I would be scared to tell someone but in a way I will, I will speak up about it to a safe adult because she taught me that I would not only be helping myself but others in danger. She also taught us about weapons around us weapons that we could pick up and use on someone around us, a girl in auckland got attacked one night in her bed by a guy she turned around to find a comb picked if up and scraped it across his face, making him drop to the ground as she ran off also taking the comb that had DNA on it then the caught the guy. I think that is amazing because she put the guy away, she also kept her self safe and most likely the others that could be attacked later on in life.

Ali explained to me about the suicide rate it got me very emotional..because I know that some people when the get attacked and can't talk about it and are scared for it to happen again they may harm them selfs.

There are so many brave stories out there of kids that battled the way out of those tough situations,  they put themselves above the attack showed them that it is there body no one else has the rights to touch them with out there connect, even a 7 year old boy that got continually rapped and sexually abused and when she said that I was upset, worried that that little boy may of not been able to tell someone for a while or today could be dead or is now 21 or something and just told someone but no. When he was 7 years old he stock up for himself and told an adult but what killed me the most was that that adult never believed him and made him apologize to the attacker then later on the found out he was sexually abusing that boy, and just to think there could be so many other case's out there like this.

I now know to protect myself stand my ground, stay safe show the attackers im stronger then them. If im ever in that situation and I get out of it, I have full faith in myself that I will and the only person I can thank is not just myself or my muscles but Ali because she taught me to defend myself, and I couldn't thank her enough.

Pi is a never ending number but a autistic man named Danielle Tamment known to be brain man, his thought process to understand the brain. He is savant, he is also autistic were he may not be able to look after them selfs very well, but this man has the brain to remember and repeat numbers and has the ability to go extremely far. Therefore Danielle Tamment over several weeks memorized the 22,000 numbers from the PI then over several weeks he turned up at oxford and repeated all of them with no mistake what so ever not looking at a paper in under 5 hours.
George flint known as rain man guy can tell you the wether for every day of the year off the top of his head he is like the metservice in his mind. They are both amazing.

Last two days

Over the last two days Miss Campbell has been unwell so we had a reliever Mrs Versta, we got to school and got given a worksheet to do to fill in our spare time once we had finished the other tasks given. We would listen to music throughout the day and I honestly think music helped us work better and make us brighter. It really helped me. We did these reading test things and did maths on our computer. She would always talk to us about wasting time.. it tended to waste time. My highlight was lunch time or the middel block.

Bullies.
I think we are all bullies, there isn't one person that hasen't bullied another person. We all need to stop but we don't know when to stop.. I have seen bulling and I have to tell the truth I have done it before. It kills me now to think that I was bulling someone and maybe if I carried on I could of pushed them over the edge. It hurts to see kids get bullied but you see it must hurt for them. I have released that when you try to stop it, its more like getting involved. I know it makes the victim feel sick inside, like they don't have a place in this world. That there not there selfs, that no one would really care if they left us in this world. I know it makes the bully angry from getting told of from a teacher. But the best way to stick up to the bully is really show you don't care walk off tell them to stop or get a group of people to tell them to stop..A child voice is very powerful.

Brothers are always great to have because they always have your back if they are older then you. They are always good to have when you a younger and you can be a girl because Older brothers are way more better from my point of view. little sisters are awesome and cute. They can be very annoying if they are older sisters. It is also very good having an older sister is they are a girl because you can really get along with them when it comes to girl problems. They can understand you.

Mandarin

I class we have been learning Languages, the year eights get put into two groups. There are one group learning sign languages in Miss Mills is teaching sign languages. Then in my class room 42 there is Miss Campbell teaching Mandarin.
Yesterday in my class which is Mandarin. I lernt all my numbers from one-ten and got taught the hand simple, miss Campbell said that we need to learn the hand simples because a big thing in japan is bargaining and if we dont know the number they will show us the simple. To learn Miss Campbell taught us the pīnyīn, sounds like, hanzi.

Homework task; Write some facts about a Rimu tree.

The Rimu tree aka Dacrydium cupressinum. This tree can grow up to 35-50 meters they are found in really tall forests in groups of them much like a heard they are found all over New Zealand, but really there habitat is lowland to montane forest. The Rimu tree comes from the podocarpaceae family, podocarpus (one of the species that form the podocarpus forestes in NZ, others include the Kahitatea and the Totara) . The female and male tree of Rimus are much different the Female plant bears the flowers and fruit. The Rimu only flowers and fruits onces every five to seven years the fruits take a year or more to mature and are ripe from about February and May.

The tree is in a pirymid shape and when young is like a brown green and as it forms into an adult tree it becomes greener. It can grow from a fresh seed. When planting stake the tree to ensure the singel dominant leader is looked after and much well to prevent the plant from dying and not coping in summer. The Maoris have much belief that rimus should always be planted in groups of 3 or more.

Today at the wedding I taught my 2nd cousins how to slow dance, I taught them before the day of the wedding, so they were perfect. At it at the wedding they were such amazing dances so I think they were better at it before I taught them this little slow dance..Anyway they showed off to the crowd and got heaps of people clapping and dancing with them, we all smiled. I think me teaching them not only had a grave effect on them but others in the family.

Today in Las Vegas, the adults of the family left out to the casinos and other things therefore I volunteered to look after the Kids, Kylie, Nia, Tatatifi. We drove around Vegas and went swimming at the beach pool wave pool and the lazy river. We also enjoyed a nice lunch at Starbucks it wasn't like a main lunch but a ice chocolate and a bagel after that we went back for a swim and played with some people we met in the pool we also had an ice cream. Later on we went to a light parade and went out for dinner. Not long after that we went to a show called the blue man show with neon lights. It was so funny and amazing to watch.

Sims three is like your very own creative world. You can make a family, build a carrer, build a life, set goals, and party in the weekend. You have a home town that you can crate to suit your real life. Make your enemies live next door so you can trash there house or far away so you don't see them or you can just get them vanished. Its your world you chose your sims actions if you would like them to go out for dinner a picnic on the beach or at your local park, or you could get take away pizza or make your home  made meal. You can also chose your sims job, an athlete or a chief or even a surgen. As you start at the bottom and rise to the top with you extra skills. You have so many options in the sims 3 to expand on your virtual life. You can also by expansions and other worlds or new little invention. Its your virtual world.

Looking after me and the house we live in she also works at our local business from time to time. I also work at our families company to earn money for what I want to do in life.

On Monday im leaving to America for three weeks we are going there for my cousins wedding and to go shopping and Disney Land. I can't wait to get away and enjoy myself I didn't really want to go in the start because of school and other commitments but now im really excited it is late notice I only just found out today! We are going to see my family as well  my Friend Sophia that lives out there.

On Saturday I played netball, it was fun we won 13-12 against some team with a name. Then I went to my friends place we played games and went to sleep.

On Sunday we went to bays with my mumma. Then we were so cool that we went to the movies like cool cats. I had a fun weekend.

Then I found out that I may be going to america in 11 days for 4-5 weeks. We are going for this family thing and a wedding then going to disney land e.c.t.

Big Nate; In class by himself, book review.

This book was a comic strip that had been turned into a children's book by Lincoln Perice. It is about a sixth grader who always gets in trouble. Nate does this social studies test and is thinking to him self if he fails and has to go to summer school. Through out the book nate opens a cookie with the note of  "You will surpass all others" as it boosted his confidence he came across more trouble. 

Charging Laptops in class.

There are some bad things about charging laptops in class is the hazard of people tripping up and the chargers braking. It also is a bad thing with the power bills, we will be wasting a lot of money everyday  just so you can charge your laptop when you could just do it at home. My Ideas on solving these problems is you get a ticket I think two tickets each for through out the term. You can only charge it for one block. I also think a good think to do is have a charger monitor that checks the chargers and if a kid still has there charger out. My opinion is that we should just do the ticket idea like a get out of jail free card. Because other wise we will be burning up power and having chargers everyday.

Poo is brown because the bile in your bladder, because of most bacteria. Because of stercoblilin, if it wasent for sterobilin the poo would be grey.
How do scabs apear?
Scabs can actually be pretty good. They stop the big rush of bloody by protecting the wound and making sure you do not get an infection. Scabs can cause big marks on the wound it has covered if it has been pulled off. If you pull it off well the wound is still getting repaired it will bleed out and cause another scab. After the first cut you should band age your wound before a scab appears, although they can be good.

Diary of a wimpy kid book review

Greg is the second youngest in his crazy house hold, with his older brother acting like he owns Greg and his younger brother always somehow getting him in to trouble.Greg has this diary what he calls a journel that he records his embarrassing moments and tough situations so he has something to give to his fans when he becomes so called 'famous'. Through out the book greg gives his opinion on bullying , why girls like boys and where to hang at lunch time.  Life is tough for Greg he ranks in the 60-100 area on the school popular list he isn't a class favorite to a lot of people hes discribes him self as a kid who just hasn't met his growth spurt. Schools tough for young old Greg trying to fit in get a good seat in class hanging with his friend Rowley or just getting his homework done. There is a thing going around his school called the cheese touch, which is a pice of cheese lying in the middel of the basket ball court which all children of the school try to avoid to me I though of it in a way like boy girl germs. Now there is Rowley Greg's so called 'friend' Rowley is very nice to Greg but Greg does what Roderick does to him. Rowley takes the blame to protect greg and support him for like the kindergarden kids walking across the road and all that when it was really Greg's fult.

My opinion on the book:
I really enjoyed reading this book it had good comic pictures it was hocking and fun. I think karma is going to get Greg bad in the upcoming books for what he has been doing to Rowley.

Our cemetery statistics investigation.-17th Avenue Cemetery.

Room 42 took a little trip to the 17th Avenue Cemetery, to study our subjects with statistics. We had walking buddies. I walked with Travis, and he was my buddy. Our subject for statistics for Travis and I was what was the most common death age. As we were down there a lady (maybe a local) brought her dogs to the Cemetery, she played fetch with them and let them run around on the grave stones. One of her dogs weed also and another one had a poo. I was disgusted in what happend with the dogs and how the lady didn't bother to even pick the poo up. I also noticed that she placed a flower on a grave which most likely means she was there because of a loved one. But still she had no right what so ever to let her dogs be silly around the dead. As we left the lady stayed on.

Daily blog post

How to be me in the morning,
Make sure you go to sleep at a reasonable time, and wake up not too early but just right. Alarms can be a pain from time to time when getting up so maybe try not to use an alarm and just wake up, sometimes it will wake you up a bit to late but at least you didn't wake up to this annoying buzzing sound. Try have a good breakfast after all it is the most important meal of the day. Say good morning to your family and maybe do a little something extra like make them breakfast because it can really make you feel good about doing something for others. Also try to make sure your warm room or chuck on a puffer jacket or have a warm shower. Make sure you try to arrive at school early because then you get to see your friends chat for a bit and there is no need to chat in class time.

Timbak day. 

1972 the 9th of June, The morning was light and warm.Therefore my brother and I set out on our motorbike adventure. We went trough bushes and over big jumps under tunnels and straight on to the main road. We skidded through the warm mud and road through the long grass it was like cutting your self apron your legs. My brother and I saw this bear it was black and kind of tinny, my brother and I carried on driving on the road until we came across the same bear again sitting like he did before, like someone sitting in the suden death chiar. We carried on driving like we where super heros.We saw the bear again and again and kipped on coming more onto the road. Then my brother and I quickly stopped as the bear was right in front off us he was walking around in circles like a bikini modle
"A hot one" my brother said
With me replying "So im hotter?"
"Of course you are?!" my brother rolled his eyes and looked in front of us to see the bear with his mouth wide open. Then it ate my brother and he died.

Heart rate.

Heart rate is the beats you heart makes. Doctors can use it to find out the health of a patient. The normal heart rate for a 13-14 year old girl rests 70-80, one may have a higher dose not mean they may be healthy then the other. (I worked this out by going on to this website and kids uploaded there heart rates then I got the average) When you exercise your heart rate increases reason being is that you start to breath really fast and your blood gets pumping and then your heart beats faster. As you get older your heart rate decreases because your body isn't strong enough. You can measure your heart rate with doctor equipment such as medical machines and just as simple as putting your two fingers up to your neck in a special spot.

Yesterday the satellite class moved in right in front of us. The reason they moved was because their old class caught fire, because they were moving in near us we got invited to see their new classroom and meet them. Bobby was our tour guide, he was an amazing tour guide and showed us around and helped  us out when exploring there new 2nd home room 43. I really liked there class it was so nice and cozy and the people in it just made it so cool. I'm really happy that we have a 2nd family moving in next door  this is going to be great fun.

My Weekend.

This weekend was so much fun. Surprisingly my brother was just so nice to buy me a stereo. Unfortunately it comes with this remote that controls the whole thing and yeah I lost it. You'll find it hard to believe, but I danced at a RSA into tribute to a passing of this lady. to tell the truth it was pretty hard keeping up with there oldies and there dance moves. My weekend was action packed even though i had the longest sleep of my life.

Baiji White Dolphin, extinct species.

The Baiji White Dolphin is native to the Yangtze river in China. This fresh water dolphin was nearly blind, but quite smart. A crew looked for the dolphin for  6 weeks but still didn't find it then they called the Baiji White Dolphin extinct. Humans caught the dolphins and hunted them down for no such reason. A spotting of this dolphin was made in 2007 but they still aren't 100% sure if that was the dolphin and if only one is left there may be some more but they havent found any more yet. They have raised hopes on thinking that there may be a couple more out there they hope to find them soon.

Periodic table.

Summary of the Periodic table study.
The periodic table is a table of chemical elements. It is like blocks of everything made up in the universe e.g Chemical elements. The creator of the Periodic tables is Dimitri Mendeleev. There are 118 Chemical elements but only 94 have been discovered on planet earth so far. Some of the elements are very dangers you are not to touch them.

Wilhelm Roentgen, x-rays.

In 1895 a German physicist discovered the x-rays. X-rays give you and inside look on a suit case and the human body. The suit case is good for security offerces in the airport to make sure they are not taking in bombs or any other ilegal substance. The human body is good to find broken bones as it only brings out the bones. Because of this discovery Wilhelm Roentgen was awarded the first ever noble prize in physics, in 1901.

Alexander Graham Bell

Alexander Graham Bell born March 3rd 1847, invented the first telephone in the 1870s. One of the main reasons he made the telephone was to help is pretty much deaf wife. Bell won a award in 1876 called the Us patent. Many other inventions came into bells life as he invented optical telecommunications, later on bell became one of the founding members of National Geographic Society. As life went on he came across many other inventions he could expand on, but sadly August 2nd 1922 (ages 75) the amazing inventor Alexander Graham Bell past away.

Go kart, Technology

In year 6 at Tauranga Primary we had a teacher Mr Northey as our teacher for the week, He decided we should build a go kart. We needed wood, screws, wheels, metal polls. We did this task in partners I did it with my friend Brandy. We had to buy the equipment and make it at school. We had difficulty with buying the stuff and building it when the other was sick. We also needed a lot of help through out the process and there wasent enough parents so most of them didn't complete the task, It was fun racing them and having fun with them. As we completed the task Brandy wanted to keep the kart but I was the one who brought everything, and Spent 3 days building it when she was away..But in the end she took it home and I have never seen it again. The activate was fun and exciting but sometimes it was hard because the lack of parent help and supplies the buddy did not bring. 

Camp

On Monday the 6th of May Rimu yr 8's House made there way to Ngamuwahine Camp for a week. We had heaps of fun and exciting activities and some scary and hard ones that we had to come across.
I'm Proud that I did all of the activities, as where last year I did none. Im also proud that when I got my foot stuck on thursday I hardly panicked and I worked out how I could get my foot out by removing the shoe and slowly pulling my foot out.
Believe or not I actually conquered my fear of hight and did the posties walk, abseiling and the low ropes. I was very scared when I got up there and wanted to back out but I didn't and I carried on.
It made me laugh when on the burmer trail I grabbed someones leg and they fell on someone and a group of people fell down like dinamos and I was laughing real loud it was so funny.
The biggest challenge for me was staying calm when I had my foot stuck and pulling my self forward so I wouldn't flip back and also so I didn't lose my shoe and also not let go of the raft it was very hard.
The Tastiest meal was the pizza because they where so nice! also the raro and baking was so nice!
The most rewarding moment was when my team one the cooking!?!?!?? we had like raw pancakes chucked on a plate with strawberry sauce and yuckish raps!

International: Half of Justin Bieber followers are fake.

A report has been released that half of Justin Bieber twitter fans are fake. The pop star was beating Lady Gaga in the race to get the most followers but now has dropped into second. Research claims out of is 37.3 million 17.8 million is fake.
Thats very upsetting but funny because I dont like Justin Bieber.

International

A new bra has been made in India. It is powered to shock rapists when to much pressure is placed upon the bra. It also has a GPS in it to track the person if there is a need to find them. When to much pressure is placed on the bra it sends 88 shock waves through to the had e.c.t on the outside of the bra.

My thought on this is it is very funny and a smart idea but what if you hug someone while wearing the bra.

International:Pray for Boston.

Yesterday (16 of April) a bomb went off at the end of the Boston Marathon. Heaps were injured and a couple dead. Today people are doing a purple infinity logo on there wrist as a prayer for Boston.

I think this is a great way to send off and pray for the people injured. The world lost some fighters but heaven gained some angels.

P5. Compete in a sport for an entire season.

This is me playing volley ball! I love volley ball and I have been playing it for 3 years. This term I have played seven times over this term for minute games. I love volleyball and playing it I have a great team we all work together! we one about 3/4 of our games.

Over all i struggled to hit the ball in the right direction I was good at setting but not digging I was kind of good at serving. I have been practicing alot now with my digging and serving with my friend ashley who competed for New Zealand in volleyball she is very very good and helps me alot.

National/International news.

Two New Zealand brothers have reported being sexual abused at a resort in Thailand. The man was arrested at a hopstop at Plunked island, he has been arrested numors times for sexual abuse and now he has been arrested again he was a 57 year old British man.
That is a dreadful thing to happen and I feel very sorry for the two boys and there family. May this man be brought to justice.

International news.

Hugh Jackman a X x-man star was working out at a local gym when a alleged stalker threw a razor full of hair at him and fled the scene she was caught 5 minutes later and arrested just down the road. Hugh Jackman was not injured or hurt as he just carried on with his work out. The stalkers name was Kathleen Thruster.
I think that is really funny and is stupid though at the same time.

This is My nana her name is Norma. She lives up at the resthome. In tauranga I visted her 8 times and we did heaps of cool things! She is 92 years old

This was when my nana and I went to the Pampers Garden center
after school. She talked to me about all these plants and what they are good for!
She also brought some plants to graden with me.
As well we got matching drinks.

My nana said she enjoyed having a 3 course meal with me.
And that the food was divine. We dressed up in some new
Clothes her wearing her tauquise dress and me wearing  my black one!

On this Day/Night I taught nana how to play xbox!
She laughed and Laughed when I lost.
She always tells her lady friends she can play xbox.
We played Black opps 2 and a car racing game
she was very good at the racing game! And her own sound effects.

On this day I went shopping with my nana to buy here some new clothes!
I got her some white new pants
and a lovely pink top with sequence.

 my nana came over for tea and watched the rugby with me
She told me how my dad was a great rugby player and how the food she was eating
(that I made) was discussing I didn't tell her I made it I blamed it on
my brother!

On Monday day My nana came to watch me play volley ball
She played volley ball once when she was a child but was not very fond of it.
I saw my nana catch a ball though that made me laugh!

My nana came over and we went to Auckland. To see her old house we went shopping and went out for lunch that weekend was funish :/

Homework Expectations.

Amount

We think that 30-45 minutes every weeknight is a reasonable expectation for homework. Per week that equals approximately 2.5 hours per week of homework.

2 terms = 20 weeks. Every homework task should take you 5 hours to do.

Quality

You need to work on each homework task for at least 2.5 to 5 hours. It should like it was done by a year 8 student. The product you make (if relevant) should look good quality.

News

North Korea has announced that they are finally at war with South Korea. They have warned that they may use nuclear weapons if needed, North Koreas leader Kim Jong Un said that he has had difficulty's with South korea for a while now and it needs to stop. Experts have seen no movement along the border but they do say that is anything bad or misunderstandings accore there may be serious  consequences.

This is very wrong and upsetting but we cant really help them.

International news.

A Serbian manshot down 13 people, he shot down his mum 2 year old cousin and 10 other neighbors. Other neighbors said if the police didn't show up they would all be dead.  Police still dont know the motive for him killing all these people. In court he kept on saying 'he dosen't know why he did hes so confused' This happend yesterday morning.
I think this is very upsetting he took so many lives for what reason?

National news.

At 11:45pm on Friday a 26 year old man was brutally stabbed by some teenagers in Wainuiomata. The man was attacked down a alley way that lead to Rata street. It is known that the people who brutally stabbed this man came from a near by party.The 26 year old stab wounds required surgery he is now in a stable condition at Hutt Hospital.

Swimming Sports

Rimu house walked down to Memorial Pools last Friday to do swimming sports.
The races I swam in where.. 25m free, 25m Breaststroke, doggie Paddle, dolphin Dive, under water swim and class relay.
The highlight of my day was coming first in 25m Free 25 Backstroke and our class one Class relay.
But the best part of all was seeing my nana down there supporting me.
My mother also brought my friend and I subway with a cookie she also gave me a peanut slab and more...My when I looked up in one of my races I saw my nana on the side yelling at me that made me smile as I inhaled water and lost the race.
At the end of the event we where aloud to have a fun swim and play pool games with our friends!
Friday was a great day but I was really tired at the end.

We were a little lost on the keynote presentation but it was great because Miss Mills helped us!

Didn't know how to do alpha and all that other keynote stuff until Miss Mills taught me.

First month at TIS this year

I have been at Tauranga Intermediate School for a month now, I am loving being a year 8. I am involved in super league volley ball, volley ball referring. Rimu house has selected the house leaders. For sport we have been doing sport comptions. For maths we have been doing (BEDMAS) and a lot more fun things math is so much fun this year!. We have really awesome homework tasks that are not like spelling it is like an adventure, fun tasks.Im going to get back into swimming and im practicing fro the Rimu house swimming comp. We do runs every week and zumba and kenpo. For reading and writing we are doing these all summer in a day tasks which is a lot of fun too. I have a feeling that this year will be a good year.
